FIRST ROLL  //  LEICA M6 + KODAK PORTRA 400

My first roll of color film with my new(ish) Leica M6. It's a bit grainy because I had pushed the ISO to 640 from the night before my early morning stroll. The rangefinder system has taken some getting used to -- however, having complete control over absolutely everything the camera is doing is much more suited to my approach to and style of photography. The shutter is so quiet, and the camera is diminutive. I can get away with street and candid photography a lot easier than with a DSLR.

I bumped into my friend, Amarisse, who works as TBS Radio as a live broadcast announcer for traffic and weather. It was a lot of fun getting a peek inside the live radio broadcast world. The shutter was even quiet enough to take a few shots while she was giving a live traffic update.

Very excited about jumping in the deep end with film.  My first 100% film wedding is next week in Washington DC.

PENTAPORT ROCK FESTIVAL ON KODAK FILM

I was fortunate enough to win a pair of free weekend tickets to Pentaport Rock Festival just outside Seoul this past weekend, courtesy of Groove Korea magazine.  I haven't shot a concert in forever, and I've just recently rediscovered my love for film, so it was a bit of a challenge to shoot.  I pushed Kodak Gold 400 to 1600 ISO and had my lab in Chungmuro ftp me the scans.  B&W conversion was done one-by-one in photoshop.

The first band is the Plain White T's, whom you may remember for such timeless classics as "Hey There, Delilah" and "1, 2, 3, 4".  But really, their recent hit, "Rhythm of Love" had the crowd chanting and it's been stuck in my head since Saturday, in the most delightful way.

The second band is Korn, and, yes, they are still around.  Jonathan Davis rocked it as well as he ever did, in his favorite red kilt, of course.

THE HOLDHUS FAMILY. Their sweet and precocious daughter is a good friend of our little Justin. They are a very special family, and one of many reasons leaving Seattle was a difficult decision for us.  We miss you guys!  ^^

I caved.  I thought my tumblr would suffice for blogging.  Alas, no.  This is, however, the start of something really cool.  Stay tuned.

I've submitted the six images above to the ISPWP summer photography contest.  Many of the best wedding photographers in the world take part in the quarterly contests -- this is my first one, so wish me luck!  ^^
